Emerald Sea Challenge

Afterlife

Magma’s  side;

The Emboar didn’t know where she was. She felt her body floating through the white light that encompassed her.

She knew she was dead, Magma recalled the pain of the fire that licked her orange and black fur as she burned down the assailants that attacked her and the team she led.

The fire pig felt strangely at peace as she drifted through this white space.

She remembered the smell of her flesh as it crisped under the flames that devoured her.

Nothing disturbed her now; she enjoyed the silence as she moved slowly in the air

Her body was shifting, becoming lighter, smaller. It began to change slowly in color and size. A purple mist engulfed her. The Emboar was morphing into a ghost.

Magma didn’t mind, she was at peace, the white light blinding her though the mist.

She closed her eyes and allowed the transformation to continue

…

Nothing bothered her anymore

…

Suddenly she felt the transformation stop, and reverse!

Her body became tangible once more. The Emboar’s eyes jolted open, the white light replaced by an eerie darkness.

Magma panicked. She couldn’t understand what had gone wrong or where she was, all she knew was that she couldn’t see anything in the still darkness.

Seconds seemed to turn into minutes, and minutes seemed to drag into hours in that space. The Emboar struggled to move, trying desperately to summon her fire attacks to illuminate her surroundings, but unable to achieve even the slightest of movements.

‘is this hell?’ Magma pondered as she finally gave up.

‘silly Emboar, this isn’t hell’ a mysterious but cheerful voice spoke into the fire pig’s mind. A little green fairy placed itself in front of Magma’s face. ‘w-who are you?’  Magma asked in her mind, surprised by the sudden appearance of the fairy-like creature. ‘You are speaking to Celebi’ another rasp, deep voice answered. Magma felt movement behind her, a chill running down her spine as the owner of the voice and another entity shifted into view. ‘and we’ the third, low pitched but just as deep voice, belonging to the blue creature, responded ‘are Palkia and Dialga’.

Magma stared at the three legendary beasts in awe. She had never imagined she would meet such powerful entities in her lifetime.

‘Emboar, we have been sent to collect you’ the majestic quadru-pedal Pokémon stated.

‘Collect? What for?’ Magma asked, confused at the very presence of the three mystical beasts

Celebi giggled lightly ‘Everything will be explained if you come with us, someone is waiting to meet you!’

‘who?’ the Emboar questioned frightened.

‘someone who is helping our world, and making sure it remains safe.’ The spatial goliath answered in its raspy voice. ‘Now decide! Do you want to come with us or would you rather we let you complete your transformation as a ghost?’

‘what happens if I go with you?’ Magma demanded

The three legendary Pokémon looked at each other before they answered the fire pig. ‘you will be faced with countless perils’ Celebi began ‘but with each obstacle you overcome you will excel in strength.’

‘Strength that in the future you will need.’ Continued Dialga ‘a great disaster is coming, Emboar. Your aid and that of all your teammates; past, present and future…’

‘will be needed to stop this threat’ Palkia finished. ‘Your other teammates have already been collected. Will you join them in their training?’

Magma pondered the meaning of the statements that she had just heard. When she felt as if she had pondered the offer enough she answered the masters of time and space with one word.
